Mai devreme am pus aici un crâmpei din Recviemul lu’ Verdi. Dies irae, adicãtelea ziua judecãţii de apoi. Primul “metal greu” din istoria muzicii, poate. Şi tocmai azi dimineaţã am citit cea mai mişto chestie despre capodopera cu pricina, într-un interviu Financial Times cu Riccardo Muti, fost mare sculã în Scala din Milano.
Written in the score are the words lunga pausa [long silence]. The soprano has been saying ‘Please God, I’m defenceless, help me’. Long silence. What is God’s answer? Bang! – the thumping chords of the ‘Dies irae’. No mercy? Or perhaps Verdi believed there was nothing out there to offer hope. Molto complicato. This is the drama of a modern man.
